 This Weeks Question

What’s the ONE super-hyped book you’ll NEVER read?

For me, I'm afraid it's 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' by E.L. James. Having read the synopsis and the reviews I have to say I'm not even tempted. Thing is, erotica isn't what I look for in a book anyway. Romance is great but this book kind of crosses the line and it's just not for me. All in all, just because a book might be 'super-hyped,' it doesn't mean that i'll be reading it. What do you think?

  5. Glad to know I'm not the only one! I'm not into erotica either. I have friends who don't normally read it, but who read this and loved it, which is baffling to me. lol I hear the writing isn't that great either, so it is not something I'm even tempted by.

    Thanks for hopping today!

  6. Thanks Jennifer. I know what you mean. I've even been put off reading books that I'm interested in simply because they're not written very well, which is a shame. Thanks for dropping by.

  7. Thanks for visiting my blog! I DID read 50 Shades, but trust me- it was so not worth wasting my time!! I applaud your no-no! :)

  8. Hmm, I might browse through this in a bookstore or airport sometime, just to see why this particular book of erotic fiction is so bad. I recall leafing furtively through Nancy Friday when I was a teenager, and those were all-but-banned books at the time.

  9. I must admit, I'm tempted to have a glance at the first chapter just to see how it's written . . .

  10. I'll be honest, I was never tempted by 50 Shades of Gray. The covers actually turned me off to start with, and now that I'm reading what people say about it, I really don't think I plan to ever pick up a copy.

  17. Looks like I also agree with the most popular answer of the day!!! :) I have no interest in the book at all.

It was all over the bookstores in Scotland....front and center. UGGH.

Stop by my blog for my full answer if you like.

  19. This is a common answer I have noticed. I, sadly, fell for all the hype. I had too many mom friends that were "raving" about it. THANK GOODNESS they loaned me the ebooks and I didn't purchase them. I would have been kicking myself for purchasing them. Your blog looks great. New follower. Good luck with the historical fiction book. I like reading those. ;)

  20. Hi Jeanna. Thanks for stopping by -I know what you mean. A lot of people got that book because everyone was raving about it and it raises your expectations -you think it must be good. At least you saved your money. Thanks for following. My writing is going ok at the moment and I'm keeping my fingers crossed in order to carry on as I am. Thanks for your blog link.

  21. Fifty Shades is quite the popular book today, and I can't say I blame everyone. I read it but I'm nto sure I would ever recommend it (and I would certainly not recommend spending money on it).
